We are excited to announce the location of the 2016 Christmas Expo – Chicago! Like Fort Worth last year, Chicago offers easy access to the city via 2 airports with many non-stop and 1-stop flights as well as comparable rates from all corners of the country – and Canada too! We can’t reveal the exact facility location yet (still have some details to iron out with them) but we’ll be bringing Christmas to the Windy City on July 14-16, 2016. As soon as we can, we’ll let you know the exact facility we’ll be using. Hope to see you in Chicago! Photos by Adam Alexander
ABC’s The Great Christmas Light Fight is casting now for 2016. If you’ve been watching the show, you’ve seen many of our Christmas Expo family compete and a few have even won the $50,000! The producers of The Great Christmas Light Fight are looking right now for over the top displays for their 4th annual televised competition – 24 homes will be chosen to compete for a 1 in 4 chance to win $50,000 and the coveted trophy. If you think you have what it takes, don’t take down your Christmas decorations this year until you’ve taken a video of your display. • Videos should not exceed 10 minutes • Introduce your team on camera and then walk with the camera through your display • Make sure everything can be seen and heard clearly – hold the camera steady and move it slowly • Include wide shots of your entire display and close ups of the details that make it special • State the names, ages of all your teammates and name your hometown in your video Once you have your video, go to www.lightfightcasting.com to submit the video and apply to be on the show. You only have a few weeks before the first round of casting ends so don’t delay, apply now!
This year’s Roundtable Discussions will be on the following topics: The Art of Sequencing General Discussion Christmas Lights Business Future of RGB Over the Top Displays Future of the Industry Roundtable discussions are informal meetups where the table topic remains the same and you simply wander from table to table to either listen to or join in the discussion.

Field trip to Biloxi! It’s always difficult to choose a location for an event because we know we’re never going to be able to be in just the right place for everyone. However, for Christmas Expo, Biloxi had many checks in the “positive” column and we couldn’t wait to see the city in person. We just returned from a Biloxi field trip and both agree that it’s a great place to be! Getting there…. The Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport is small but modern and was very easy to navigate. I did experience a flight delay with Delta and ended up in a hotel in Atlanta the first night, sans suitcase. So note to self is, from now on, always have a few essentials in a carry on. And speaking of carry-ons, the Delta Connections flight to Biloxi was on a smaller jet which meant smaller overhead space so keep that in mind if you’re just planning a carry-on bag. Airport Transportation There were several rental car choices (Avis, Budget, Hertz, National, Dollar) on site and the lot was directly across from the entrance – no waiting for a shuttle bus to go pick up your car. Note that Enterprise – if that’s your choice of rental car – is off-site. There were also taxi’s available and we’re told the cost from the airport to the Convention Center area is around $20 and travel time is about 20 minutes. We are checking to see if any of the hotels near the Convention Center offer shuttle services and will post an update once we get an answer. Directions from the Airport Leaving the airport, turn left onto Airport Rd (1.4 mi.) Turn right onto US-49 N (0.6 mi.) Take ramp right for I-10 East toward Mobile / Biloxi (12.2 mi.) At exit 46A, […]
